The great French organist and composer, Gabriel Fauré, died on 4th November 1924. In this the centenary year of his death, his music is as accessible and beautiful to the listeners of today as it must have been inspiring and impactful to those who heard it first over one hundred years ago.
Singers are invited to come and enjoy an afternoon workshop on Fauré’s Requiem followed by afternoon tea and performance.
The event will be led by Matt Foster (music director) and Bryan Almond (organist). During the afternoon, singers will rehearse the choruses from Fauré’s Requiem and Bairstow’s anthem Let all mortal flesh keep silence. There will be a break for tea and cake before a performance at 5pm. The performance will comprise the music pieces interspersed with readings for the season. The performance, lasting just under an hour, will be free for the audience with donations to St. Thomas’ music outreach welcome.
