A series of free events titled ‘Reduce, Reuse & Recycle’ will take place from 30 Jan – 4 Feb in Wallingford, which explores avoiding waste and reusing. This is the second event programme in a series of three, as part of the town council’s climate emergency pledge.

Cllr Katharine Keats-Rohan says 'At a time when mounting concern about climate change has collided with a cost-of-living crisis, it is more important than ever that we look as a community and as individuals at what we can do to help ourselves, each other and our planet.’

A variety of events are taking place throughout the week, exploring food waste, recycling, highlighting what second hand items are available and a recap of the previous event which looked at ways to insulate your home and save on energy bills.

The Town Council welcomes book donations for the community book exchange on 1st February, as well as technology donations for ‘Getting Oxfordshire Online’. There will be a donation point for old laptops, phones and tablets in the Town Hall on Monday 30th January, from 11am – 2pm, with criteria available on https://gettingoxfordshireonline.org . There will also be a Nearly New sale in the Town Hall on Friday 3rd Feb, from 10am – 2pm.

The public can find a timetable of events on the Town Council website: www.wallingfordtowncouncil.gov.uk/council_events/reduce-reuse-recycle/

All the events listed are free, although some require pre-booking.

The community and businesses can highlight what they’re already doing and share ideas to cut down on waste by displaying a poster in their window: https://bit.ly/ReducePosterWTC

The third climate event will focus on ‘Sustainable Travel & Transport’ and will take place in Wallingford on Saturday 4th March.
