Still Life. In a suburban rail station, Dr Alec Harvey removes
a cinder from Laura’s eye and they fall in love. Subsequent
weekly meetings over tea, scenes debating respectability or
love and some sentimental moments transpire before they
decide …..In typical Coward style, the play, written in 1936, is
interspersed with witty insights into social niceties of that time.
Gosforth’s Fête. Gosforth, the local publican, is attempting
to organize the annual village fête, but the odds are stacked
against him; the weather is bad, the sound system doesn’t
work and the local dignitary who will open the fête has arrived
early. Then Gosforth is told he is about to become a father…
