Extraordinary General Meeting - for pre-school childrens' parents and carers.

VOTE TO DISSOLVE THE PRE-SCHOOL CHARITY OR ELECT NEW COMMITTEE

Dear Parents and Carers

Thank you to those parents that attended the previous meeting on Tuesday 26th March where the committee (trustees) informed you of the governance and financial difficulties the pre-school is facing due to record low numbers of children.

As trustees of the pre-school charity with a responsibility to manage the pre-school governance and finances in a responsible way, we have concluded that the pre-school charity is not sustainable on either governance or financial grounds.

We are therefore calling a vote at an Extraordinary General Meeting on Thursday 25th April at 8pm. The voting options will be:
• To close the pre-school at the end of the Summer term (the last day will be 24th July 2019) and dissolve the pre-school charity soon after (once any obligations have been met)
• To vote to elect a new committee (this can only be done if there are a minimum of 5 people standing)

Only members of the pre-school are eligible to vote. Members can be of two kinds: family or affiliate members. Parents or guardians of all children who attend Goring and Cleeve Pre-school are family members and each family holding Family Membership will count as one Member of the Pre-school and will be entitled to one vote at the meeting. Affiliate members can join with agreement from the committee.

If you wish to stand for election on the new committee, please contact the committee on the email below at least a week before the meeting. You will need to be prepared to sign that you understand the information that will be presented before the vote and are fully aware of the potential consequences.

If a new committee is to be elected, there must be a Chair, Secretary and Treasurer plus at least two other trustees (please see our previous letter regarding committee recruitment for a description of the roles).

The committee would like to say thank you for giving us and the staff your support at this very difficult time.

Many thanks,

The Pre-school Committee
