A large, 60-plus choir will perform a choral memorial and tribute to Queen Elizabeth II, exactly a month after her death.

This promises to be a moving and uplifting experience, bringing the community together through beautiful music to appreciate and reflect upon Her late Majesty’s seven decades of service to our country.

There is no charge for entry and no need to book in advance, but early arrival is recommended as the church has currently reduced seating capacity. (Instead of charging for tickets, donations will be invited to cover expenses and to benefit one or more of the charities of which the Queen was patron.)

The programme (approx 75 minutes) will be:
Faure’s Requiem, MacRobert’s Lament (played by local resident, Pipe Major Ian King), Like as the hart (Herbert Howells), In our day of thanksgiving (Robert Strutt), The grace of her hand (Liz Dilnot Johnson), Nunc Dimittis in C (Charles Villiers Stanford) and Great is thy faithfulness (W.M.Runyan).

PS for singers who would like to join this one-off choir: If you haven’t already signed up to sing, but would like to join the choir just for this special event, please email Sara Benbow asap on stbartslbchoir@gmail.com. This will be a wonderful opportunity to make some superb choral music together.  Please state which voice section you would like to join so that enough seats and music for everyone is ensured. There is a practice at 2pm on Saturday 8th that all singers will need to attend. Thank you.
